Richard Sparks is
Director of Choral Activities at Pacific Lutheran University, where his
Choir of the West tours annually. During
his 4 years tenure as Director of the Seattle Symphony Chorale, he
prepared the Chorale for 9 recordings on the Delos label under Gerard
Schwarz, and conducted the Symphony and Chorale in performances of such
works as Bruckner’s Mass in E
minor and the Rachmaninoff Vespers.
Mr. Sparks has guest-conducted the Portland Baroque Orchestra,
the Northwest Chamber Orchestra, the Portland Symphonic Choir, and at
the Anchorage Festival of Music.
Choral Arts
Northwest, now in its third season, is a professional ensemble of
outstanding musicians whose a cappella singing has received standing
ovations. They made their
debut n 1993 under the direction of renowned Swedish conductor Eric
Ericson. Their goal is to
present high-quality performances of demanding choral repertoire ranging
from Gregorian chant through complex 20th century works.
