Penelope Crawford, fortepianist and harpsichordist, is acknowledged as one of America's pioneering performers on historical keyboard instruments. Over the past 25 years she has appeared as soloist with modern and period instruments orchestras and as recitalist and chamber musician on many North American concert series, including those of the Smithsonian Institution and the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and the 92nd Street Y, Merkin Hall , and the Lincoln Center in New York. Many of her performances have also been broadcast over National Public Radio. A faculty member of the University of Michigan School of Music and visiting Professor at Case Western Reserve University, Ms. Crawford has given lectures and master classes at colleges and universities throughout the U.S. and Canada. She also serves on the artist faculty o f the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute.

Penelope Crawford earned performance degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the University of Michigan, with additional studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome. Her teachers include Cécile Genhart, Rosina Lhevinne, Guido Agosti, Kurt Neumüller, and Gyorgy Sandor.
